This exhibition is curated by Art in Embassies and commissioned by the American Arts Conservancy. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, the exhibition opens to the public on July 30th, 2026, and invites audiences to reflect on the symbols and ideals that define America.
The mission of Art in Embassies is to use the universal language of art to foster cross-cultural understanding, dialogue, and connection. In 1776, the big idea of America was the radical possibility of people ruling themselves—a nation self-governed by its citizens. The exhibition artists, whose innovations and perspectives have profoundly shaped contemporary culture far beyond the nation’s borders, underscore how art transcends geography, politics, and national boundaries.
