New York-based photographer Phil Penman has spent more than twenty-five years documenting the city’s streets in black and white, often using a monochrome-only Leica camera. A former news and magazine photographer, Penman photographed the events of September 11, 2001; those images are held in the permanent archive of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. His work has appeared in the Guardian, National Geographic, and Time.
