Eliott Daingerfield

A disciple of George Inness, Elliott Daingerfield (1859-1932) was a native Virginian raised in North Carolina who studied in New York, but became known for his paintings of Grand Canyon. He traveled in Europe where he painted The Lagoon, Venice, selected by Ambassador and Mrs. Bivins. Daingerfield was director at the Philadelphia School of Design for a time and was elected a National Academician in 1906. He eventually returned to North Carolina where he died at Gainsborough.
