Steve Joy

Artist Steve Joy, born in England in 1952, has lived and worked in many different parts of the world. In 1988 Joy moved back to the United States, settling in Omaha Nebraska to serve as the curator of the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. He left that position after a year, only to return a few years later to make Omaha his permanent base.

In his abstract work, the artist’ close study of historical traditions in painting, are reflected back to the viewer through his observations and reinterpretation of history, translated into new abstract configurations in mixed media on canvas paintings and prints

The artist is represented by different galleries both in the U.S. and Europe. In 2018 the Sioux City Art Centre in Iowa featured Joy his work in an exhibition, that included work from the past ten years.
