Reina Matta

An El Cruce resident, curiosity led Reina Margarita Matta Martinez to the Honduras Thread embroidery group in 2006. Her first hurdle: Learning how to embroider. Honduras Threads members taught her, and she found one of her first pieces, an Angel pillow, was especially satisfying. To complete. When both her husband and son were killed in an auto accident four years ago, she said it was her embroidery that helped her “to move forward, to thrive again emotionally.” She is “excited” to see her work acknowledged by another country.
