Peter Wegner grew up in South Dakota and graduated from Yale University. After many years in Brooklyn, New York he now lives in Berkeley, California. Wegner’s work has been the subject of recent solo exhibitions in New York, Tokyo, Berlin, Los Angeles and New Zealand. Forthcoming solo projects include: two installations at The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) opening in November 2010; a cycle of eighteen wallworks at the new University of Colorado Art Museum (CUAM); and a series of six largescale sculptural works to be permanently installed on the Stanford University campus in Palo Alto, CA.
Permanent collections featuring Wegner’s work include: The Guggenheim Museum, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; The Getty Center, Los Angeles; The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and The Yale University Art Gallery, among others.
