Through her “romantic, documentary-style” images, photographer Olivia Bee captures the beauty of everyday life, conveying how our memories—real or imaginary—affect us. Inspired by American contemporary photographer Ryan McGinley and filmmaker Sofia Coppola, Bee’s photos are immersed in hazy and colorful light. “All the photos that I make are love letters…I think that’s part of being a photographer; you’re taking the world around you and saying, ‘I appreciate this! I’m going to make it into a postcard from my personal world! This is my universe,” she says.
