John Funt

Born in 1953, John Funt majored in painting at Kenyon College where he studied with Joseph Slate, a colorist, who himself had studied with Josef Albers. An earlier influence was the sculptor, Rhys Caparn, who taught Funt when he attended the Dalton School in New York City. After graduating from Kenyon in 1975, Funt had a one-man exhibition at the Touchstone Gallery in New York. The collector Roy Neuberger, purchased a painting from that exhibition for the collection at SUNY in Purchase, New York. Funt paints at his home in Norfolk, Connecticut. His paintings combine the architecture and countryside of the Norfolk area and other locations where Funt has traveled.
