Jeanette Katoney

Jeanette Katoney expresses a deep spiritual connection to her Navajo heritage in her abstract paintings and pastel drawings. Katoney expresses the relationship between the ancient and modern through her art work. Bold colors, often including her signature hues of vibrant red, and symbols from petroglyph imagery are combined with pastels, oils, or locally-gathered natural pigments.

Katoney’s formal art training includes an Associate of Arts Degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and fine art studies at Glendale Community College and Northern Arizona University.

Katoney strives to reflect the depth of her Navajo heritage and its great reverence for all living things and spiritual beings.
