Jan Elmy

Jan Elmy, a Maryland-based artist, is known mostly for her Chesapeake landscapes and still lifes.

“I studied the methods of the Dutch and Flemish masters with Eugene Kamalak at the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Maryland. I then abstracted from the classical through pointillism and impressionism, before realizing my one true love in painting was to bring classical realism into the twentieth and twenty-first centuries by including modern objects that give ‘date’ to a painting, as well as to invite the viewer to become ever more aware of the beauty which surrounds us in objects often taken for granted.”
