Born and raised in Iowa, Craig Albright draws inspiration from the pastoral landscapes, gentle rolling hills, and wooded groves of his home state. The dynamics of weather and shifting light of rural Iowa continue to inform his art practice. In creating work that explores atmosphere, perception, and the interplay of light and shadow, Albright draws inspiration from American tonalist painters and modern artists such as Richard Diebenkorn and Gerhard Richter.
Albright earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in drawing from the University of Iowa, Iowa City and his Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University, Bloomington. His work is in the permanent collections of the Figge Art Museum, Davenport, Iowa and the Iowa City Public Library.
