Alice and Jack McLean

Jack and Alice McLean approach each bronze wall tile as a still life, a study in color, texture and dimension. The bronze surfaces of each welded construction are machined and sanded to accept a hot-process patina. The beads, which the McLeans have been collecting and incorporating into their work for fifteen years, are often old and worn from use. Some of the oldest have traveled the world and been deemed precious by several different cultures. The McLeans recognize qualities in certain antique beads that complete a composition by lending their unique histories to the artistic tradition begun within their bronze tiles.
