Dan Boylan

Dan Boylan was an artist based in Omaha, Nebraska, who painted Midwestern landscapes, cityscapes, and the human figure. His work was influenced by Willem de Kooning, Nathan Oliveira, the Bay Area figurative movement, and French impressionism, which informed his fusion of realism and abstract expressionism. Before his death, Boylan wrote, “I have come to believe in a kind of alchemy whereby a thought can be transformed from being a mere idea into a complex image.”

Boylan was raised in Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He completed his art education after moving to California, where he lived for just over twenty years. His work continues to be shown by Modern Arts Midtown Gallery in Omaha.
