Eileen Hoffman is a sculptor and installation artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She was born and raised in New Jersey (where her bedroom was entirely pink). She remembers learning how to knit from her friends’ mothers and being fascinated by textile work of all kinds during childhood. Consistently fascinated by handwork, she continued her journey by learning embroidery and attending weaving and design classes in junior high and high school. Eileen weaves traditional textile techniques with unconventional materials, establishing a connection between historical traditions and contemporary feminist ideology.
