Consuelo Kanaga

Consuelo Kanaga, born Consuelo Delesseps Kanaga, was an American photographer and writer who became well-known for her advocacy for and photographs of African Americans and other people of color. Her photos conveyed her subjects’ comfort and pride, setting them apart from those taken by the Farm Security Administration documenting rural poverty after the Great Depression.
