Thorbjorg Rostad was a designer, painter, and lecturer who combined her interest in Norwegian folk art and craft—which featured nature motifs and flowing scrolls—with her talent as painter and portraitist. She was born in Norway but lived in Brooklyn, New York, for most of her life and was one of the founders of the Norwegian Arts and Crafts Club of Brooklyn.
