Rhea Gary

Rhea Gary paints the dramatic Louisiana wetlands with a warm palette in an expressionist style that she first learned in her studies with Wolf Kahn.

Gary’s appreciation of the wetlands moved her to become a conservationalist. In 2003 Rhea Gary teamed with naturalist and wildlife photographer C.C. Lockwood to launch “Marsh Mission” an educational project complete with art exhibition, website and book that educates the public about Louisiana’s disappearing coastal wetlands.

Gary, a native of Louisiana, holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Fine Arts degrees from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she has lived and worked for many years.
