Patricia Hobbs

I am both a curator and an artist. As an art historian, I am interested in all types of artwork. As a painter and printmaker, I gravitate to rural and urban landscape as subject matter.
My work is about place and incorporates the vistas, intimate spaces and roads that daily form my field of vision. I work in a traditional format, but I strive to find the abstract within the representational. Documentation is not my purpose. I am interested in process, directional forces, painterly marks, and in the transformative nature of light and weather. As a printmaker, I use the monotype process for the purpose of exploration and revelation, as well as for the pure joy of accident. Painting informs printmaking, and printmaking informs painting
