“The Joy of Life is a collection of moments dealing with unspoken relationships that exist between humans and our surrounding species. I am curious about what compels humans to contain creatures, and the types of animal-human relationships that emerge from domestication. I have noticed that many of the resulting relationships involve an intense emotional and physical investment by humans. This commitment yields a culture that is filled with dominance, affection, competition, and expectations.”

Paige Mazurek is studying at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts, and she expects to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2010. The recipient of several awards, she has exhibited her work throughout the greater Baltimore, Maryland region, including at the Baltimore Museum of Art, as well as at the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, Miami, Florida.
