Molly Hatch

Born in 1978, the daughter of a painter and an organic dairy farmer, my childhood was divided between physical labor, play and creating art. I studied drawing, printmaking and ceramics receiving my BFA at the Museum School in Boston in 2000. After several ceramic residencies and apprenticeships in the US and abroad, I received my MFA in ceramics at the University of Colorado in Boulder in 2008. My career in ceramics has led to collaborations with institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Clark Art Institute as well as collaborations with design and industry. In 2014, I installed my largest plate painting to date with almost 500 plates making up a wall installation that measures 22ft tall by 17ft wide. My largest piece titled “Physic Garden” is permanently on view at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA.
