Mary McInnis

“For more than 20 years I have been working in pastels and my application method of scribbling color into color was starting to morph into blocks of color. This method segued directly into my oil paintings (which I had gone back to only just a couple of years before after raising two children) – chunks of pure color yet keeping the sense of place that I strive to create, with the play of light being a large part of what draws me to a scene. I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember in various modes – painting, drawing, photography, theater, choral. Now my time is mostly spent painting in pastels and oils – both in studio and en plein air. ”
