Louis Charles Vogt was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. A talented painter, Vogt employed a free style of brushstroke and often rendered forms with broad, sweeping strokes. His studies at the Cincinnati Art Academy with Frank Duveneck had a profound impact on his work.
