Lou Cabeen

Lou Cabeen is a Seattle based artist with Chicago roots. She works in a variety of tactile media. Her work has been exhibited in venues including the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland, the Chicago Cultural Center, the Akron Art Museum, the List Gallery of MIT, the Museum for Textiles in Toronto and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem Massachusetts. Most recently she has been pondering the relationship between art and cartography as she charts the emotional geographies of contemplation, belief and desire.

Lou received her BA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Maryland, College Park. She completed her MFA in Fibers at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Washington, Seattle where she co-chairs the Interdisciplinary Visual Arts degree program in the School of Art.
