Lisa Russell

Lisa Cameron Russell is a contemporary naturalist, creating large-scale public works and privately commissioned paintings.

Cameron’s painting technique remains consistent yet the subject matter is expansive.
The contrasting delicate ribbons, heavy bands, drips and splashes of color are layered together to build illuminated subject matter. The paintings culminate in whimsical energy, layered dimensions and unexpected detail depending on the viewers distance from the work.

Acknowledging her education, the artist recognizes her approach can be described and understood quickly as combining the plays on Impressionist painters’ “Spirit of Place” and more contemporary applications including Jackson Pollock’s “Targeted Paint” technique.
