Oxman’s etchings are not a vehicle by which she reproduces drawings. She uses this traditionally cold medium to create warm, rich color tones that describe her intimate surroundings. “I work with the things I live with,” she says. These have included colorful oriental rugs covered with a collage of personal objects…these she combines into intricate arrangements that are seen slightly from above and very close up to explore the spatial relationships among the objects. “I tend to respond to my environment a lot,” Oxman comments.
