Jiratchaya Pripwai was born in 1983 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where she currently works and lives. She graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University, before going on to complete her Master Degree in Visual Arts from the Faculty of Paintings, Sculptures, and Printing, Silpakorn University, in 2011. Pripwai has worked as a professional artist since then, and has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Thailand and abroad.
Pripwai’s works of abstract art are akin to records of life events. While simple as per her signature, Pripwai’s work process is created to review and express the countless stories and events that have happened to her thus far. Alas, Pripwai’s works aren’t merely an examination of her own inner state for the sake of living in the present, but also acts as a space for the audience to exchange experiences or stories of their own, before preserving them as precious memories. It is as if the artistic process acts as a form of therapy to return balance to her heart, something she gladly shares with her audience.
