Jill Lear

Jill Lear’s primary subjects are thriving urban trees that give back to the community, not only with their environmental benefits, but by “strengthening social connections.” Her task is to “transcribe the experience of being in front of a particular tree, in a particular place” using charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, and decorative papers and tapes “to reflect light and movement, positive forms and negative spaces…creating portraits of these ancient trees, entire landscapes in their roots and universes between their branches.”
