Diana Horowitz was born in New York City in 1958. She did graduate work in painting and drawing at the Tyler School of Art Rome MFA program, and she received her MFA from Brooklyn College in 1986. She has received awards and grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and the Ingram Merrill Foundation, the Rosenthal Foundation of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, as well as numerous residencies including MacDowell Colony and Yaddo, the Ballinglen Foundation, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. Her work has been exhibited in Ireland, Italy and through out the United States.
