Desiree Sterbini

Desiree began painting at an early age, sharing her expressions, opinion, and feeling on paper and canvas throughout her childhood and adolescence. She went on to pursue painting as a career, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Believing that the education of an artist is never complete, she continues her studies today through studio art, illustration classes, and workshops held throughout the DC Metro Area. Desiree resides in Maryland with her husband and daughter… often the most frequent subjects of her artistic muse.
“People often say that my work is familiar to them, that what I portray on paper reminds them of one of their children or puts them in touch with a feeling or an emotion they’ve encountered before. It is my hope that those who view my work greet the person I’ve become… spiritual, colorful, and I hope calming. I want to engage people in the sensitive and introspective moments that are too fleeting in the hectic, fast-paced world in which we live today.”

Desiree has received numerous accolades and awards for her work. She is active in the Maryland, DC artistic community and has exhibited her oil pastels paintings in Edison Place Gallery, Touchstone Gallery, Montpelier Cultural Arts Center, Strathmore Mansion, Glenview Mansion, and Brookside Gardens.
