This quote by Rachael Carson hangs in my studio, “The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe, the less taste we shall have for destruction.” Within my artwork I strive toward this ideal. Sometimes this manifests itself through visual images and sometimes through a feeling. Exploring human behavior, relationships between men and woman, environmental issues, and relationships between humans and other animals are all sources of inspiration for me. In looking at traditional woman’s crafts and the societal role it plays I have found great inspiration in materials and meaning. Much of my recent artwork utilizes embroidery, printing on fabrics, and stitching.
