Andy Saur and Angel Sarkela-Saur have been painting with coffee for several years, and have completed hundreds of original artworks. Curious people who view the work are amazed that the artwork is painted entirely in coffee – no additives, just 100% pure coffee. Artists have been using coffee as washes for sketches and other shading for some time, but this is one of the first times where a process is used to gain very dark hues. When people ask them what they do to achieve this darkness, all they can say is that it takes a special process and it is their secret formula.
