Alyse Rosner

Abstract painter Alyse Rosner’s practice is intrinsically linked to the natural world and organic forms. For fifteen years, she has incorporated graphite rubbings of her surroundings into her paintings, from the wood grain of her studio deck to rings of a felled tree’s trunk. “It’s a very satisfying process—instant gratification,” she says, “and can also be surprising, like when it materializes in a totally different way than I’d imagined.”
