Alisa Banks

Visual artist Alisa Banks addresses identity politics through her sculptural books, textile collage, and mixed media. Incorporating fibers that stem from traditional craft techniques, the artist uses a variety of found materials—paper, photos, hair, and fragile plants—in her hand-stitched work. Evoking her Louisiana Creole culture, Banks connects concepts of body, home, and terrain to broader social issues.
